This study reads the 30-day window from early August to 3 September 2026 for GCC energy commodities — crude, refined products, natural gas and LNG — against the defining fact of 2026: the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly 20 million barrels a day moved before the war, has been disrupted since late February, when Iran closed the waterway in retaliation for US and Israeli strikes.
